This year has been super busy with many projects in the works. We have been in private practice since 1996 and for many years we were working part-time in the practice along with a full-time job in the field. I resigned from my last job in September 2009 and I'm astonished and amazed that I have been in full-time private practice for almost 4 years. Frank has been full-time for 5 years.
Some of the Highlights of 2013
We have been in our new office in the Meadows Professional Office Park in North Kingstown for the past 1 1/2 years.
Frank is attending the CAGS program at RIC to obtain his LMHC which will allow him to accept BCBS in the near future. I'm very proud of him and his incredible accomplishments. I look forward to his graduation which is coming up soon. In addition to providing individual counseling in North Kingstown, Frank continues to work with adolescents in an alternative high school in Providence. He also facilitates an Anger Management group at the Silver Lake Community Center in Providence. We now have an ongoing Early Recovery group and an Anger Management group in North Kingstown.
We provide a monthly Life Coaching workshop: Vision Map Process which is well attended by a core group of women. Presently, we are working on the Fall 2013 schedule which will include providing Spiritual Retreats for women this year. We are looking for the ideal location.
I continue to use EMDR in my practice with my clients and I'm getting amazing results. I joined an EMDR supervision group which is staring soon. I will be finishing up my Hynotherapy Certification next month. As a DOT qualified SAP, I worked effectively with people who needed substance abuse counseling and treatment. As professional interventionists, we were able to help several families learn more about substance abuse and help their loved one get into treatment. As therapists, we believe in doing our own work.
This summer, we have been invited by our spiritual teachers to go on another shamanic journey in the Amazon Jungle for 12 days. I'm reallly looking forward to it as I got so much out of it last year.
I purchased the Biomat which is huge on the west coast. It is an awesome healing tool for pain, anxiety, weight loss and sleep. We have become distributors for the BioMat and I recently made the Emerald Executive level. We presented the BioMat at the Women's Expo and the Wellness Expo. We plan to do a medical conference in Boston and a Yoga and Chanting Festival in the fall. We have some distributors signed up as well.
Our daughter, Gabriella, was accepted as a Student Ambassador for People to People Ambassador Program and she will be traveling through several countries in Europe this June representing the US. We organized some successful fund-raising events and she has been working hard toward her goals.
We are expanding Healing Arts to provide more holistic and integrative services such as Reiki sessions, hypnosis, healing circles, Biomat Therapy, Expressive Arts, Sound Therapy, Life Coaching, Meditation and Mindfulness classes. Our plan is to offer services and products we believe can help others to heal.
We are working on social networking plan: our website, Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter. We started a monthly Newsletter in April. We are looking for a fee-for service licensed therapist to work in our practice.
Another goal we have is to simplify our business by getting on Therapy Notes which we haven't started yet.
Thank you for your ongoing support and stay tuned for our Fall 2013 schedule. There will something for everyone. We wish you much healing and peace in your journey. We are enjoying the warm weather our new dog, Diamond Sutra, and lots of gardening. Have a great summer!!
Maria and Frank Sorensen
